Individualized Recovery Therapy
to Meet Your Needs

Each patient’s recovery process is unique. Cornerstone Behavioral Health El Dorado offers a variety of different therapy programs to ensure an individual’s needs are being met.

Acute Psychiatric and General Medical Services

Cornerstone Behavioral Health El Dorado utilizes evidence-based treatment strategies to facilitate the healing process. Each inpatient will have a comprehensive, written treatment plan — developed by their treatment team with the patient’s input — based on their diagnosis, strengths, and disabilities. The plan will include short – and long-term goals with the specific treatment modalities to be utilized and responsibilities of each member of the treatment team.

One-on-one therapy

A psychiatrist will supervise each patient’s care and see the patient in individual treatment sessions daily.

Group Therapy

Patients will be assigned to a therapy group based on the types of issues that brought the patient to the program. Types of group therapy include cognitive behavior, interpersonal relationships, coping skills, assertiveness, anger management, and psychoeducation.

Family Therapy, Education and Support

A structured family meeting will be arranged if the patient and treatment team determine that a family meeting would have a therapeutic benefit on the individual’s recovery.

Education and Medication Management

Group sessions will provide patients with valuable information and education regarding their diagnosis, medication stabilization, nutrition and wellness, coping skills, and behavior management techniques.

Therapeutic Recreational Therapies

Recreation therapy utilizes various activities as a form of active treatment to promote the improvement of a patient’s health and well-being, thus enhancing a patient’s quality of life and productivity. Therapeutic recreation interventions include self-expression, stress management, problem-solving, resource education, social skills, journaling, and other activities including, pet therapy where patients will have the opportunity to interact with a trained pet therapy dog and therapist.

Medications

Medications can play a role in treating several mental disorders and conditions. Although psychiatric medications don’t cure mental illness, they can play a role in treating mental disorders and often significantly improve symptoms. The best medications for you will depend on your particular situation and how your body responds to the medication.
